TMG to GEDCOM uses various third-party components, including the Microsoft .NET framework. The TMG to GEDCOM installer checks for the existence of the correct .NET framework, and if it is not installed on your PC, it starts Microsoft's installer for .NET. That installer will download .NET components and requires an active Internet connection. It's a big download, and the install takes a long time... Sorry about that!
You do not have to install any prior version before you install a new version, even if you purchased an upgrade.
In most cases, you do not have to uninstall any prior version before you install a new version. For some upgrades, the TMG to GEDCOM News article announcing the new version will include a recommendation to uninstall the old version before installing the new. For the cleanest install, uninstall any existing version first.
You can install multiple versions on your PC if you install them into different folders, but all versions will share the most recent versions of some of the shared components that are stored in the Windows system folder.

Unlocking TMG to GEDCOM
After you purchase TMG to GEDCOM, you will receive an e-mail message that confirms the registration information you provided during the purchase process. The e-mail message will include a serial number.
Note Save the e-mail that contains your serial number and the rest of the registration information. If you lose the information, and you need to reinstall TMG to GEDCOM, contact me and I will send you the information again.
When you start TMG to GEDCOM it will open a dialog window where you must enter the registration information in order to unlock the application. The best way to do this is to copy and paste the information from the e-mail message into the data entry fields. Use Control-C to copy and Control-V to paste.
If you do not enter the registration information, TMG to GEDCOM will be limited to exporting a very small subset of the people in your TMG project.
If your name or e-mail address change in the future, and for some reason you have to unlock TMG to GEDCOM again, you must provide the information as it was when you purchased the application.
- The TMG to GEDCOM installer will not prevent you from attempting to install under Windows Vista or previous, however, the .NET Framework v4.6.2 installer will fail because it requires WIndows 7 or newer. Vista users may manually install .NET Framework v4.6.0 and attempt to use TMG to GEDCOM with it, but please be aware that TMG to GEDCOM was not tested under those conditions.
